Hen House Lane

At the end of our first Blog Spot we mentioned that in this edition we would be introducing our neighbours. We've asked Wincey, one of our neighbours who resides in Hen House Lane, to tell you a bit about herself and the other residents of the lane.

Thank you Lamlash House. I'm Wincey, one of three hens who live at Hen House Lane next to Lamlash House. The picture above is of me outside our hen house. My two henmates are Lizzie and Lottie, who are sisters, and they moved into the house with me in 2007. There are some photos of the three of us below.

This is the first time I've been asked to write a blog, so I'm not too sure what I should be writing. I'm a happy chick, who likes nothing more than going shopping for worms, buying the latest feather boa and relaxing in the garden of Lamlash House.

I'm the boss in the hen house. It is my house after all!

Lottie is not the brightest hen in the lane, but don't tell her I told you that. So much so that she's often called 'Clottie Lottie'. I don't know how many times she's put her big feet into the food and water bowls! Lottie's my best friend, and we often explore the garden together for grubs. Lottie's interest include roosting, digging and singing.

Lizzie's the more sensible hen out of the three of us - a mother hen I guess! Her hobbies include knitting, eating grass and having dirt baths.

The three of us have full-time jobs in egg production. It's not too taxing. We produce an egg a day and the rest of the day is leisure time.

It's lovely having a hen house next to Lamlash House as the owners are very good at providing free meals for us. It's the best of organic!

Bye for now.

Wincey x
