Lamlash House Homecoming Event is considered a 'triumph' by invited guests

After 10 months of planning, the Lamlash House Homecoming Event took place on Saturday 1 August 2009. Thankfully, after several hours of heavy rain, the weather was dry as the 64 invited guests arrived at the house for a red carpet welcome while piper Iain Melvin played a selection of Scottish pieces.

The event comprised a champagne reception, a formal welcome of guests (including a note of best wishes from First Minister, Alex Salmond), a prelude to Ae fond kiss performed by The Lady Nancy McPherson, a performance of Ae fond kiss and My love is like a red, red rose sung by Mairi MacGregor and accompanied on piano by William Mealyea. Afterwards an animated rendition of Tam O'Shanter was performed by Laura McPherson followed by a recital of Is there, for honest poverty performed by Stuart Muirhead. Ceilidh music was performed by John Allardice.

The evening was concluded with a one-off performance by Kilmarnock duo Fannie and Annie who performed a medley of songs by the late Fran and Anna.

The event was well received by all and £372 was donated by guests on the night for the Ayrshire Hospice.
