Baars Browse Former Bank

 

 

 

Helen and Allen Baars from Ontario, Canada dropped past Lamlash House earlier today en route to Pitlochrie to see progress with the restoration works.

Helen left her hometown of Beith 40 years ago and returned there this week for a series of family events.

 

Both were thrilled to see the property in person having been following it on Facebook.

They look forward visiting again when the restoration works are complete.

Newmilns Gala Week 2015

 

 

 

 

 

Lamlash House put the bunting up to join in the celebrations of the annual Newmilns Gala Week.

 

 The main event was the Gala Day today with a parade through the village and the crowning of the Gala Queen, Jessica Baxter.

3TFM Radio Presenter Visits

Maritza Duncan from 3TFM radio station popped by yesterday to see for herself the developments to the ground floor at Lamlash House.

Maritza presents on the radio station each week on Wednesday mornings at 10am.

13th Irvine Valley Walking Festival

On Friday evening (15th May 2015) Lamlash House is once again welcoming Ian Pollock and the participants of the Town Walk as part of the 13th Irvine Valley Walking Festival in Newmilns.

During the short walk, which highlights the town's heritage sites, participants will be welcomed in to the private house to get a unique view of the ten stained glass window panels in the staircase which depict Scottish writers and poets and will also be given a brief talk about the history of the building. 

The walk commences at 7pm at the Town House on Main Street and lasts until around 8.30pm.

Williams & Jones Visit

In April, Lamlash House was pleased to welcome Jennifer Lynne Williams and John Jones to the house.
They took time out to visit Lamlash House during their tour of Ayrshire and Glasgow.

Lamlash House - Extended Without Extending!

Lamlash House has just got bigger after the recent acquisition of the full ground floor of the premises!

For the first time in over a century, the complete Listed property is now back in private ownership. Look out here for news of developments soon.

March Leads The Way To A New Lead Roof

After further water ingress over the New Year period which damaged internal decoration, the complete re-leading of the bay window roof at Lamlash House was completed this week.

The specialist lead work was carried out by Nova Contracts (www.novacontracts.co.uk) in Kilmarnock and involved replacing the original lead covering and improving the drainage from the roof.

Gearing up for major roof repairs to commence this week with the start of the scaffolding being assembled.
